Ron Brown Scholar Program

Eligibility: Awarded to students who have at least one parent currently employed as a California strawberry fieldworker. Alliance/Merck Ciencia (Science) Hispanic Scholars Program

Type: Interest-based scholarship and internship
Eligibility:
Open to high school and college students of Hispanic heritage
Must be planning to pursue a career/majoring in Science, Technology,
Engineering, or Math (STEM)
Minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.75
Committed to work as an intern in a STEM discipline

Award: $42,500 (High School), $2,000 (College Students)

Common Knowledge Foundation Scholarship
Type:
Eligibility: Must be at least 14 years old or older and planning on attending an accredited college or university; International students are also eligible as long as they live and attend a school in the U.S.
Notes: All U.S. high school, college, and graduate students are eligible (parents can compete, too)
Award: $250-$2,500

National Achievement Scholarship
Type: Academic based for black high school students
Eligibility: Black students may enter both the National Achievement Program and the National Merit Program by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) in 2020 or no later than their third year in high school, and meeting other published requirements for participation.
Notes: Information supplied by the student on the 2020 PSAT/NMSQT answer sheet determines whether the individual met requirements for participation in the 2020 National Achievement Program.

Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC)/ HACER Scholarship
Type: Need based
Eligibility:

Be a high school senior
Be younger than 21 years old
Be eligible to attend a two- or four-year college, university or technical school with a full course of study
Be a legal U.S. resident
Live in a participating RMHC Chapter’s geographic area
Submit a completed application and all required documentation by the deadline on the application
Meet any additional eligibility requirements outlined by each scholarship program
Provide verification of enrollment each year at a respective accredited post-secondary institution

United Negro College Fund Scholarships

ZINCH THREE SENTENCE ESSAY SCHOLARSHIP

Requirements:
Zinch gives you a prompt, you compose up to 3 sentences as a response, and you walk away with cash. Three sentence essay competitions are offered each week, but students only have a maximum of 280 characters to showcase their best answers. Open to younger students as well as older ones, this scholarship competition is a fun and easy one to enter if you are just getting started with financial aid.


2021 Green Home Improvement Scholarship

December 01, 2021  The Look Twice, Save A Life Scholarship is available to students currently attending or planning to attend an accredited college or university. You must create a form of social awareness that inspires other students to focus on Looking Twice for Motorcycle Safety to qualify for this award. This can be a video, artwork, essay or anything that would engage other students to focus on safe driving. Student must have a valid driver’s license.


Proof Reading, LLC Scholarship Program

The Proof Reading, LLC Scholarship Program awards one $1,500 scholarship each year. This year's winner will be announced on February 23, 2018. To be eligible to enter the Proof Reading, LLC Scholarship Program, you must meet the following criteria:

attend classes at an accredited four-year college or university in the U.S.
take a minimum of 12 semester units (you must be a full-time student)
be a legal resident of the U.S. or provide a valid green card
maintain a cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 3.5

The deadline for Proof Reading, LLC Scholarship Contest entries is 12 p.m. (noon) PST on January 23, 2021.
No late entries will be accepted!

Here you will find a list of scholarships to get you started on your search. We have tried to specifically focus on local and regional scholarships, but we have included some popular national opportunities, as well.

When choosing and applying for scholarships, remember a few key points:

• Local is always best
• Read qualifying instructions carefully — you don’t want to spend lots of time on an award that you are not right for
• Respond carefully to all essay prompts — the key is always to be creative and specific, but to also be sure to respond to the questions you are asked
• Give your recommender's brief information about the scholarships so that they can focus on the appropriate attributes in your letters.
• Also, your high school counselors work hard to provide scholarship information to students, so check out your school websites for more on scholarships and other opportunities!
